Stress, which is coterminous with the word anxiety, is the body and mind’s reaction to external stimuli. It can be illustrated on a scale with boredom (restlessness) on one extreme of the scale and distress (panic or aggression) being the other extreme. In the middle of the scale is contentment to the external stimuli that can bring forth feelings of intrigue, ease or excitement. At Blue Pop we help clients react to a situation with excitement or ease. Being able to deal with situations with ease is what people want, because who wants to be stressed? This all comes down to being able to manage stress so that when something unfavourable happens you and your body is prepared to resolve it in the most effective, self-assured or enjoyable manner possible. In a session Blue Pop’s SRC will teach a client of the two forms of stress most people are susceptible to and with a session a client will be able to plan for how they will react to a situation which can be overwhelming, whether it’s in the workplace or in their personal lives. The aim is to prevent the ‘fight or flight’ stress response from occurring by cultivating a way of perceiving and behaving that benefits them with whatever life brings.
